Danao City, Cebu

Danao City is a 2nd class component city in the province of Cebu, Central Visayas (Region VII). The 2020 PSA Census recorded a population of 145,984 across 42 barangays. The city covers a land area of approximately 107.30 kmu00b2 and sits about 33 km northeast of Cebu City along the eastern coastal highway. Danao became a city in 1961.

Danao is situated on the northeastern coast of Cebu island, facing the Camotes Sea. It is bordered by Compostela to the south, Carmen to the north, and the central Cebu mountain range to the west. The terrain includes narrow coastal plains and rugged interior hills. Danao has a tropical climate with no pronounced dry season, typical of Cebu's eastern seaboard which is exposed to Pacific weather systems.

The nearest airport is Mactan-Cebu International Airport, approximately 45 km south via the coastal highway.

Danao offers some of the most affordable real estate in Metro Cebu's northern corridor. Educational institutions include Danao City College and several public high schools. Healthcare is served by the Danao District Hospital and private clinics. For major medical needs, residents travel to Cebu City hospitals.

Danao is notable in Philippine history for its gunsmithing tradition, which dates back to World War II. The city has worked to formalize this industry through the Danao Association of Gunsmiths. For property buyers, Danao's appeal lies in its affordability relative to Metro Cebu, combined with reasonable commuting distance to Cebu City.
